GreTai Securities Market of Taiwan said June 25 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Frankfurt-based Deutsche Boerse AG to establish closer communication and long-term cooperative development mechanisms between capital markets in the two locations and to promote diversification of commercial products and business operations in the two markets. The memorandum comes on the heels of a similar cooperative agreement signed between GreTai and the Tokyo Stock Exchange in May.
Legislative President Wang Jin-pyng is set to lead a delegation of lawmakers from across the political spectrum on a visit to Japan July 1 to examine the current situation of victims of last year’s earthquake and tsunami and to call on important political figures.
The Council of Agriculture announced June 25 that mainland Chinese authorities decided earlier this month to permit imports of Taiwan-produced rice. Imports will be allowed based on a set of announced quarantine and inspection management regulations.
Taiwan’s Fan Hou-chun, 22, won the top jury selection award at the Soy Cibelino festival held in Madrid, Spain, June 21-24 for his “Endless Hope” collection of works. He was the only Asian to enter the competition. The victory earns Fan the opportunity to undertake an internship at the Cortefiel Group, Spain’s second largest apparel retailer. (SB)
