The Executive Yuan’s InvesTaiwan Service Center celebrated its second anniversary Aug. 8. The center has handled 327 investment cases to date, with total investment value of NT$28.5 billion (US$950 million). Japanese enterprises top the list, followed by U.S. and Canadian firms, and then companies from the European Union.
The Ministry of Transportation and Communications said Aug. 8 that it has selected Taipei Songshan Airport and its surrounding area for transformation into a Northeast Asia air transit center. A build-operate-transfer approach will be adopted, to allow private investment for the construction of business hotels and shopping centers, according to the ministry.
The government-funded Institute for Information Industry said Aug. 8 that it has founded six digital Chinese-learning centers in the U.S. in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Boston, Seattle, Chicago and Houston. Since 2008, 60 centers have been established worldwide, according to the institute. (SB-HSJ-THN)
