The Diaoyutai Islands are an inalienable part of ROC territory and claims to the contrary are tantamount to surrendering the country’s sovereign rights under humiliating terms. The Presidential Office reaffirmed the government’s position on the islands Feb. 17 following remarks disputing this fact in a new book written by former President Lee Teng-hui. (CNA)
