The Cabinet-level Environmental Protection Administration Comprehensive Planning department participated in the 2023 Global Environmental Education Partnership Advisory Group Meeting in Northern Ireland’s Belfast Aug. 5-11.

The GEEP initiative was jointly launched in 2014 by the Taiwan EPA and its US counterpart to build partnerships with like-minded countries in environmental education. About 30 environmental NGO experts from Botswana, Canada, India, Nepal, Taiwan, the U.K., and the U.S discussed deepening the cooperative network in the current meeting, the EPA said.

This year’s group meeting, cohosted by Taiwan and U.S. EPAs and the North American Association for Environmental Education, examined future GEEP goals and implementation methods; participants also exchanged experiences on development and operation of regional environmental education centers.

To strengthen network collaboration in the Asia-Pacific region, the Education Partnership Asia-Pacific Regional Center under the GEEP framework was launched in Taiwan in 2019 as part of the country’s active participation in global environmental issues and to further education on environmental issues, the EPA said.
