Premier Su Tseng-chang extended his deepest sympathy to the government and people of the Kingdom of Eswatini after the passing of Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Dec. 21.
Accompanied by Foreign Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu, Su also visited the Embassy of the Kingdom of Eswatini in Taipei City the same day to sign the book of condolence and express his regrets, the MOFA said.
The premier asked Eswatini Ambassador to Taiwan Thamie Dlamini to convey his sorrow to Dlamini’s family members while expressing the government’s appreciation for the late PM’s staunch support for Taiwan’s participation in international organizations, the ministry added.
Su’s visit follows a statement from President Tsai Ing-wen released last week, in which she said Dlamini will be remembered as a respected leader.
In a tweet on its official Twitter account, the MOFA described the late prime minister a great friend and supporter of Taiwan and hoped that he rests in peace.
Taiwan and Eswatini established diplomatic relations in 1968. The countries have successfully carried out numerous joint projects in such areas as agriculture, education, information and communication technology, rural electrification and women’s empowerment. (YCH-E)
