Foreign Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu visited a donation center March 14 in Taipei City, expressing his gratitude to all parties involved in organizing the delivery of supplies from Taiwan to those affected by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Love transcends borders, and the country is doing its best to show that where there is a need, there is love from Taiwan, Wu said at the facility set up by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at its headquarters.

The private sector donations and volunteers’ selfless contributions underscore the public’s determination to stand with Ukraine, the minister said. Such an outpouring of support and humanity has garnered the highest respect and appreciation from the government, he added.

According to the MOFA, more than 1,700 individuals have delivered or mailed around 4,000 boxes of designated goods to the center since the donation drive was launched earlier this month.

The latest move follows a shipment of 27 tons of medical supplies donated to Ukraine Feb. 28. More than US$21 million has also been donated to a special humanitarian assistance account established by the ministry to date.

In a tweet on its official Twitter account, the MOFA said “Minister Wu paid a special visit to our #StandWithUkraine donation center. He offered his appreciation & encouragement to #Taiwan volunteers & staffers striving to assist those affected by #Russia’s invasion of #Ukraine. #TaiwanCares & #TaiwanShares for the betterment of all!” (SFC-E)
